Fourth step is to understand the context of the cartoon. Fifth step is to look for widely recognized symbols in your cartoon. Sixth step is to look at the minor details of the cartoon.

- Exaggeration is used to exaggerate the physical characteristics of people or things.
- Labels are used to label objects to show what they stand for.
- Analogy is used to compare two unlike things.
- Irony is the difference between the ways things are expected to be.
